CONGRATULATIONS BASINGSTOKE!! The Inter-District KO Competition took place at Westgate Centre on Sunday 18th April 2010. Unfortunately Waterside District was unable to field a team so five districts were represented. Aldershot & Camberley won two of the Mixed games, then all the Ladies and Mens, finishing on 373 points to 274. In the second half of the draw the Basingstoke team, made up of Tim Cooper, Steve Harrison, Ben Ansell, Alison Crawford, Juliet McAskill and Emma James, met the Winchester players: James Bevis, Peter Seward, Richard Whatley, Julie Turner, Julie Newbold and Alison Gerett. Winchester won two of the Mixed games, two Mens and two Ladies games - all very close results. Winchester won by 364 points to 302. In the second round Winchester played Southampton, who had received a bye. The Southampton team of James Todd, Alex Ferguson, John Hepworth, Jenny Crump, Lesley Lockie and Jackie Barron proved just too strong for Winchester, taking seven of the nine games. The third Mixed was shared and Winchester B/C Ladies won their game. Southampton won by 360 points to 303. In the contest for the Trophy Southampton again proved the stronger team, winning 6 games to Aldershot & Camberley’s 3: two Mixed, three Mens and one Ladies. The final points were 352 to 289. Basingstoke and Portsmouth & Havant contested the Plate. This was a very close match with Portsmouth & Havant winning 5 games, one Mixed, two Mens and two Ladies, but Basingstoke gained more points to win by just 7 points, 334 to 327. Ruth Cairns 21/04/10
