Viking and BH Pegasus both completed their season’s programmes with victories in the Ladies Division of 6. Viking beat Andover Sports 7/2 at Everest College courtesy of a maximum from Juliet MacAskill/Emma James and two rubbers each scored by Alison Crawford/Linda Rapacioli and Julie Shawley/Madeline Haddon. Sue Hartfield and Liz Roberts won the loser’s two points. Kim Street/Hayley Burger and Anu Davies/Amanda Marsden made up the two pair BH Pegasus two pair team which accounted for Phoenix with a 6/3 scoreline. These results mean that the BH Pegasus side finish at the top of the table with 73 points and Viking are second with 64.
The last remaining match in Mens Division 1 saw Viking A, 7/2 winners over Aldermaston at Aldermaston enabling them to regain the title which they last held in the 2007/08 season. Keith Fleming and Chris Apsey won the two home rubbers while Tim Cooper/Simon Williamson won their three rubbers for the victorious visitors supported by two rubbers each scored by Tony Coombs/Chris Powell and Scott Wilkins/Scott Haddon. A 7/2 home victory for Waverley A over BH Pegasus B ensured that the former remain in Division 2 next season. The losers, for whom Andrew Bosworth/Alex Groom and Mark Chapple/Marcus Lopez, each won a rubber will be relegated. Adam Bridgen/John Beattie and Ian Aherne/Peter Bevell both recorded maxima for the winners complimented by the seventh rubber from Colin Huntley/Steve Ineson. Following their 5/4 victory over host’s Andover LoddonSherpas A got the second promotion spot in the table below Beechdown A. Phil Hood/Tony Ashworth scored a maximum foe LoddonSherpas A supported by two rubbers from Mark Gentry/Hanif Rahman. Mark Holden/Philip Jaap won two rubbers for the home with Tim/Geoff Lewis and Jon Purser/Jamil Chaundhory scoring one each. In Division 3 Alresford reported three matches to complete their programme, one home win, 8/1 against Phoenix B, one away 6/3 victory over Beechdown B and between these two fixtures a 9/0 defeat by second placed Andover Sports B. The successful Andover Sports B team in this third match was Peter Cowmeadow/Geriant Griffiths, Peter/Ben Sellers and Julian pike/Peter Hartfield. Mark Fuller and Matthew Savastano were the only winners for Phoenix B in their 8/1 defeat by Alresford. Bob Thirkell/Ben Webb and Guy Webb/Mark Emmerson won their three rubbers for Alresford with John Read/Mark Webb getting the remaining two. Each of the three Beechdown B pairs, Keith Dawson/Jonathan Richards, Mark Everly/Nick Jones and Ryan Harrison/James Savine won one rubber in their 6/3 defeat by Alresford. The 6 rubbers for the visiting winners came from maxima by both Ben Webb/Bob Thirkell and Guy Webb/Mark Emmerson. Phoenix A emphasised their top spot in the division with an 8/1 home win over Whitchurch with Dave Cooley and Stuart Gordon the loser’s solitary winners. Matthew Hawkins/Greg Sudell and Roy Gallie/Matthew Savastano each won their three rubbers for the winners with Paul Verling/Jon Thompson winning two.
BH Pegasus A, winners of Mixed Division 1, beat second placed Viking A 5/4 at Everest College in the penultimate match in the division. Steve Harrison/Amanda Marsden and Chris Pearson/Kim Street both won two rubbers for the winners with Alex Wigmore/Anu Davies getting the vital fifth. Milo Rapacioli/Juliet MacAskill won one rubber for Viking A, Tim Cooper/Alison Crawford got two and Viking A also received a conceded rubber to complete the scoring. The last match in the division was between the two bottom sides, Viking B and Aldermaston. The former finished up winning the match 5/4 with Tony Coombs/Julie Shawley winning a maximum supported by the other two rubbers from Chris Powell/Emma Day. Chris/Lisa Apsey won two of the loser’s rubber while David Lowe/Pippa Dines and Neil Hince/Sue Richardson won one each.
