Ladies Matches 30/03/07    BH Pegasus Ladies in the Ladies 6 Division enhanced their chances of regaining the trophy with a 6/3 home victory over a two pair Viking team. Amanda Marsden/Anu Davies and Lesley Acheson/Doreen Quilter both won two rubbers for the winners to secure the win.  Julie Shawley/Emma Day won two rubbers for Viking supplemented by one from Diane Cooper/Ruth Cairns.  Elsewhere in the division a two pair Andover Sports team lost 5/4 to Beechdown  at Winchester Road.  Ruth Seward and Andrea Hill won the two rubbers for the home side with each of the visiting pairs, Pauline Prior/Sandra McDonald and Liz Roberts/Sue Hartfield securing two rubbers.  Sally Holmes/Gill Trimmer and Chris Fowler/Debbie Symes both won maxima when Waverley beat Phoenix 6/3 to secure their second victory of the season.  Each of the visiting pairs, Carolyn Neale/Sam Taylor, Alison Rendall/Wendy Mason and Jan Hodges/Nicola Blake won one rubber.

In the Ladies Division of 4, Viking’s 3/3 draw with visiting BH Pegasus was sufficient for them to take the division title.  They have finished with 26 points and their opponents can only reach 24 if they finish their programme with a maximum win in their remaining match.  Karen Hume and Sara Haddow took part in two winning rubbers for Viking with Emma Day and Ruth Cairns participating in one,  Amanda Marsden took part in three winning rubbers for BH Pegasus, Lesley Acheson in two and Jean Deverill in one.

Mens Matches 30/03/07  Having beaten visitors Beechdown A 7/2, Viking Mens A in Division 1 require only two points from their remaining match against BH Pegasus A to retain the title for another season.  James Bevis and Neil Hodges won a maximum for Viking A complimented by one rubber each from Richard Whatley/Mike Fidge and Chris Powell/Vince Yong.  Unfortunately Beechdown were forced to concede two rubbers.  Daniel Sheppard/James Bartlett won their two rubbers.

Andover, in Mens Division 2, still managed a 6/3 victory against Hurst at the Hurst with only two pairs.  Their two pairs, Steve Trussell/David Sneddon and Alan Dixon/Geoff Lewis won trebles to record the 6/3 win.  Peter Cowmeadow/Paul Williams and Geriant Griffiths/Nick Gladwin both won maxima for Andover Sports B when they beat LoddonSherpas A 8/1 at Andover.  The other rubbers came from Andy Kinge/Chris Liziak.  The visitors sole rubber was scored by Phil Hood/Mark Gentry.

Even after a 9/0 win over Phoenix B at Sherfield School BH Pegasus C are still not certain of the Division 3 trophy.  They are being closely chased by Waverley and Beechdown B.  If both these teams manage to record maxima scores in their three remaining matches and BH Pegasus C have a slight slip-up then the finish could be very tight. The victorious BH Pegasus C team in the match against Phoenix B was Ray Chow/Steve Tribe, James Skilton/Veera Arunalhalam and Mark Chapple/Karthik Srinivarshan.  Dave Cooley/Sean Mallard won two rubbers for Whitchurch as did Phil Cooke/Peter Askew supplemented by one from Chris Smith/Colin Webb when they beat Alresford 5/4 at Alresford.  Nigel Butcher/Marc Page won their three rubbers for the home side with Mark/Guy Webb getting the fourth.  Tim Williams/nick Jones won two rubbers and Lee Chojeck/Bruce Scott one when Beechdown B had a 6/3 home win against a two pair LoddonSherpas B side.  Mark Sykes/Mike \Powell won two of the losers rubbers with Phil Neal/Mike Nash securing the third.

Mixed Matches 30/03/07   Despite a maximum three rubbers from James Bevis/Diane Cooper Viking A only managed a 4/4 draw with BH Pegasus A in Mixed Division 1.  Tony Coombes/Juliet MacAskill won the other rubber.  David Burrell/Anu Davies won two rubbers for BH Pegasus A with both David Gough/Doreen Quilter and Martin Hill/Amanda Marsden getting one each.  This result leaves Viking A currently at the top of the table with St Marys 7 points adrift but with two matches in hand.

A 6/3 win over visiting Aldermaston A at the Sports Centre has given BH Pegasus B a 4 point lead over Viking B in Mixed Division 2.  Both teams have two matches still to play, one of which is against the other with the BH Pegasus side having home advantage.  Martin Davey/Lesley Acheson and Prasanth Kumara/ Doreen Quilter recorded maxima for BH Pegasus B with each of the Aldermaston A pairs, David Lowe/Sandra Page, Graham Page/Hannah Ward and Neil Hince/Rhian Jenkins winning one rubber.

Aldermaston B, in Division 3, were more successful beating a two pair Whitchurch team 7/2 at Aldermaston. Ben Coapes/Helen Apsey won two rubbers for the home side helped by one rubber each from Neil Hince/Pippa Dines and Keith Fleming/Lisa Apsey.  Stuart Gordon and Ellen Dennett won the two rubbers scored by the visitors.  Adam Bridgen/Linda Rapacioli, Colin Huntley/Debbie Symes and Ian Aherne/Jo Berry were the Waverley pairings when their team defeated Beechdown C 9/0 to finish their programme on 57 points which should be sufficient to guarantee them the second promotion spot in the division.

LoddonSherpas B. in Division 4, accounted for Phoenix B at John Hunt School with a 9/0 scoreline.  The winning team was Mike Powell/Liz Firth, Mark Sykes/Eve Bielby and Paul Bonner/Caroline Thompson.  In a postponed match, LoddonSherpas B then suffered a 6/3 defeat at the hands of Waverley B. A result which means that Waverley B will probably just miss out on the second promotion spot in the division.  John Beattie/Sally Holmes set up the victory by taking their three rubbers for the victors supported by two rubbers from Milo Rapacioli/Sandra Jennings and one from Robert Jackson/Gill Trimmer.  Steve Woodward/Liz Firth won two of the loser’s rubbers and Paul Bonner/Caroline Thompson got the third. Andover finished their programme with a 8/1 victory over Phoenix B at Sherfield School.  They now have 78 points and are assured of at least second place in the table depending on how Andover Sports B perform in their remaining two matches.  Matthew Hawkins and Wendy Mason won the sole Phoenix B rubber with Alan Dixon/Karen Causley and Dave Sneddon/Sue Clarke both winning trebles for Andover supported by two rubbers from Chris Woodgate/Laura Thomas.
