Return to Badminton  08/03/07   The BH Pegasus club are organising a “Return to Badminton” course at the Sports Centre. Ladies Matches 08/03/07    A 5/1 away victory over Andover in the Ladies Division of 4 gave Viking a 4 point lead over second placed BH Pegasus.  Mo Wishart and Laura Thomas were the only home pair to secure a rubber.  The successful Viking side was Alison Crawford, Jane Halls, Ruth Cairns and Diane Cooper. 

A 8/1 win against Andover Sports Ladies in the Division 0f 6 leaves Viking on 53 points just 1 point behind BH Pegasus in this table.    Beechdown are currently in third spot but LoddonSherpas who have two matches in hand on all three of these teams could cause an upset.  LoddonSherpas  led by a maximum from Cheryl/Stephanie Matthews beat Waverley 6/3 late in February.  Hayley Kopp/Becky Hall won two rubbers and Liz Firth/Caroline Thompson supplied the sixth.  Debbie Symes/Heather Mountford won two rubbers for Waverley supplemented by one from Sally Holmes/Gill Trimmer. Later a Waverley team of Gill Trimmer/Sally Holmes, Sandra Jennings/Caroline Rodbourne and Heather Mountford/Debbie Symes beat Phoenix 9/0 at Sherfield School.


Mens Matches 08/03/07 Viking Mens A in Division 1 kept a firm grip on the top spot in the table with a 7/2 victory over Firefly at the Hurst School.  Richard Whatley/James Bevis and Chris Powell/Tony Coombes both won maxima with the final rubber coming from Simon Williamson/Neil Hodges.  Phil Pike/Scott Armstead and John Weston/Steve Webb won one rubber each for the losers. 

BH Pegasus B have returned to the top of the Division 2 table following a 8/1 home win against Hurst.  They now lead LoddonSherpas a by 3 points. David Ord/Mark Payne were the visitor’s only successful pairing in this match with both Steve Glover/Dale Turpin and Andrew Hart/Ramsey Dumloge winning their three rubbers for the victorious home side complimented by two rubbers from Andrew Bosworth/Alex Groom.  Elsewhere in the division Andover lost 6/2 to visiting Andover Sports B and then recovered to beat Aldermaston 6/3 the following week.  In the match between the two Andover teams Alan Dixon/Geoff Lewis won the two rubbers for the losers while each of the three Andover Sports B pairs, Paul Williams/Peter Cowmeadow, Geriant Griffiths/Nick Gladwin and Andrew Kinge/Chris Lisiak won two rubbers. Against Aldermaston Geoff Lewis/Chris Woodgate and Dave Sneddon/Ivor Brojek both secured their three rubbers for Andover.  Each of the visiting pairs, David Lowe/Rod Jenkins, Graham Page/Neil Hince and Stephen Gaunt/Lawrence Sutton won one rubber. 

Dave Hartfield/Mike Powell won two rubbers and Arjun Karnad/Chris Valentine won one when LoddonSherpas B beat a two pair phoenix B side 6/3 in Division 3. Bob Cosgrove/Tim Pink won two of the loser’s rubber with the third scored by Mark Cleave/Mike Taylor.


Mixed Matches 08/03/07    In Mixed Division 1 a two pair LoddonSherpas A managed to take thee rubbers from visiting Beechdown A.  Phil Hood and Hayley Kopp won to of the three with Ian Young/Stephanie Matthews securing the other.  Restricted Mixed Doubles winners Daniel Sheppard and Cathryn Perkins won one of the Beechdown A  rubbers and Mark Bayliss/Andrea Hill got two. 

Adam Bridgen/Linda Rapacioli, Colin Huntley/Debbie Symes and Ian Aherne/Jo Berry made up the Waverley A team which accounted for Whitchurch with a 9/0 scoreline in Division 3.  In Division 4 Andover Sports B beat Basing Cavaliers Queen Mary’s College by the same score to take an 11 point lead in the table.  Ian Swatton/Liz Jones, Chris Clarke/Carol Wylde and Mark Tilston/Sue Hartfield made up their team.
