BH
Pegasus ladies in the Ladies Division of 6 suffered a surprise 6/3 defeat by
Beechdown.
Andrea Hill/Ruth Seward recorded a maximum for Beechdown supported by
two rubbers from Karen Southwell/Sandra Smith and one from Madge Cummings/Sara
Deed.
Anu Davies and Amanda Marsden won two of the loser’s rubbers with
Lesley Acheson/Jenny Skilton contributing the third.
BH Pegasus cannot be sure of the title until LoddonSherpas play
Waverley as the former could, with a 9/0 victory, steal the title by one
point.
In the Ladies division of 4 BH Pegasus also lost, going down 5/1 to
Andover, at the Sports Centre.
In this match Amanda Marsden playing with Doreen Quilter won the sole
home rubber.
Karen Causley and Sue Clarke won their three rubbers for Andover with
Lorraine Phillips and Lara Thomas taking part in two successful rubbers.
Mens
Matches 01/05/07
In Mens Division 1, Viking B beat Beechdown A
8/1, thus condemning the latter to division 2 for next season. Daniel Sheppard and Mark Bayliss won the solitary rubber for
the losers while Scott Wilkins/Graeme Berry and Carlo Rapacioli/Stuart Cheng
both won trebles for Viking B supported by two rubbers from Ian Shoard/Simon
Williamson.
Both David Ord/Mark Payne and Barry Egginton/Dave Keep won maxima for Hurst in
their 8/1 home win against LoddonSherpas A in the Division 2.
Jeremy Browne and Chris Puxley got the remaining two.
Phil Hood and Mark Gentry won the LoddonSherpas A rubber. Andover
Sports B dropped vital points when they lost 5/4 to Andover at the Andover
Sports Centre. The result means
that they require maximum points from their two remaining matches if they are
to top the table. Peter
Cowmeadow/Paul Williams won two of the four rubbers for the home side
complimented by one each from Geriant Griffiths/Nick Gladwin and Peter
Hatfield/Andy Kinge. Steve Trussell/Dave Sneddon kept a clean sheet for the
winners with Geoff Lewis/Alan Dixon getting the other two. Early in March
Andover lost 5/4 to leaders BH Pegasus B despite a maximum from Alan Dixon and
Chris Woodgate. Geoff Lewis and Ivor Brojek won their other rubber.
Two rubbers from both Andrew Bosworth/Alex Groom and Steve
Glover/Martin Hill and one from Ramsey Domloge/Andrew Hart made up the winners
score. Later Andover, comprising Mark Holden/Dave Sneddon,
Alan Dixon/Geoff Lewis and Steve Trussell/Ivor Brojek beat Phoenix A 9/0 at
Andover to complete their programme.
In Division 3 Whitchurch finished their season with a 7/2 home defeat of a two
pair LoddonSherpas B. Mark Sykes/Paul Bonner won the visitor’s two rubbers while
Stuart Gordon/Dave Cooley won two rubbers for Whitchurch supplemented by one
each from Peter Askew/Peter Cooke and Chris Smith/David Major. Bob Thirkell/Scott Page, Mark Emerson/Marc Page and Nigel
Butcher/Ben Webb were the successful Alresford team which beat visiting
Phoenix B 9/0 at Perrins School. Waverley finished on 78 points to take the
second promotion spot in the division after a 6/3 home win over Beechdown B.
Tony Walker and Keith Dawson won the three rubbers for the visitors with each
of the Waverley pairs, Ian Aherne/Adam Bridgen, Robert Jackson/Milo Rapacioli
and John Beattie/Richard Ford winning two rubbers.
Mixed Matches 01/05/07 A 6/3 victory over Aldermaston A at Aldermaston puts Viking B at the top of the Division 2 table. They lead second placed BH Pegasus B by 3 points but the latter have still one match to play and could well steal the top spot. Viking B achieved this win although they had only two pairs, Tony Coombes/Ruth Cairns and Carlo Rapacioli/Ruth Seward who both scored maxima. Elsewhere in the division Beechdown B beat a two pair BH Pegasus C team 7/2 to ease their way from the relegation zone. Dale Turpin and Hayley McCall won the loser’s two rubbers while Martin Webb/Jan McDonald won two rubbers for Beechdown B supplemented by one each from Mark Bayliss/Cathryn Perkins and Tony Walker/Clare Taylor.
